About the Founder
The TVC Academy has been setup by its founder: Tony VC Lowe.
Tony is an author and philosopher who has moved through many fields from academics, to construction to teaching. He has a natural passion and talent for grappling with philosophical questions and for explaining complex matters in a clear and concise way.
Above all, he has a care and respect for the truth that he would like to share with others.
Background
Tony did five years of academic education in philosophy the UK before graduating. This taught him a great deal about the main arguments in philosophy, how to engage with and explore them and how to approach subjects in an academic way.
However, much of the education was left wanting. Tony was taught particular ideas and arguments whilst being encouraged to critique them but was not given a foundational appreciation of the nature of truth and how to find it.
In light of this, he decided to back-track in order to discover whether we have any foundations and if so, to understand what they are. Fortunately, he did and given the importance of these discoveries, he would like to share them with others.
Tony believes that much of modern education - especially in the humanities - is largely a waste of time and people can be equipped to have the mental tools to learn, research and think on their own in a relatively short space of time.
Equipped with things like a firm grasp of Logic, the use of The Socratic Method or even an appreciation for things like The Trivium system, we are able to think critically and independently. As a result, we can pursue our own learning with confidence without having to be reliant on flawed systems.
